CONVENTIONS
Inaugural Convention of the Union was held in WINNIPEG, CANADA between June 5, 6 & 7, 2015 on the theme: “POSITIVE WIND OF CHANGE: FORGING A SUSTAINABLE SYNERGY FOR OKA-AKOKO DEVELOPMENT”.
Summary of the Convention Schedule:
- The plenary session was from 10 AM to 12 Noon on Saturday June 6, 2015;
- Panel Discussion was from 1 PM to 3 PM on Saturday June 6, 2015;
- Tour of some Winnipeg attractions from 3:30 PM to 6:30 PM on Saturday June 6, 2015; and
- Gala “Paparazzi” Night was from 7:30 PM to 9:30 PM on Saturday, June 6, 2015.
- Thanksgiving Service was on Sunday June 7, 2015 from 10 AM to 12 Noon (optional).
- Guest Speaker: Honourable Minister of Multiculturalism: Hon. Flor Marcelino
Hon. Philip S. Lee, C.M., O.M. Lieutenant Governor of Manitoba region sent a powerful welcome and goodwill message to the convention. Part of the messages read thus:
“Your organization is an important part of Manitoba’s admirable multiculturalism, reflecting your pride in your roots and a collective desire to bring about positive change in the world. By working together to help each other and support other community initiatives, you are contributing to a stronger, more vibrant quality of life, not only for Manitobans, but also for citizens in need around the globe.
